It’s only a ten seconds interview, and you have to suffer through the trailer for a guaranteed flop first, but at least it’s an interview, and it’s more fun to look at Jack Davenport than doing the laundry.
The report from the premiere of “The Boat That Rocked” in London also includes Nick Frost, Gemma Arterton, Tom Sturridge, Richard Curtis and others. And snippets from the movie, showing Norrington Mr. Twatt busy at work fighting the pestilence of piracy, poisoning British territorial waters and airwaves with
‘THIS ROCK’N'ROLL PORNOGRAPHY’
Jack says it’s nice doing “Comedy Bad Guy” (TM). Nick Frost complains about non-dancing GoGo girls. It’s raining. In other words: business as usual in London.
Don’t forget: “The Boat That Rocks” officially opens on 1 April – no kiddin’. Go, watch, enjoy yourself and be grateful Hugh Grant was busy elsewhere and let us know how you liked it. Mails containing the word “puerile” more than once or breaking Sparky’s Law (“A movie may not be condemned solely because it will be seen by more than 15 people and the director looks good in a suit.”) will be mocked.
Extra bonus special weekend-goody (with special thanks to Mary):

That’s not good.
It’s not great, either.
It’s actually more like friggin’ fantastic!
The London Paper is running a promotion on Monday to win tickets to the world premiere of the Boat That Rocked that night (Monday 23rd March)!
Wait, wait – there’s a catch (there always is – competitions are like marriages):
YOU HAVE TO TURN UP IN 1960′s FANCY DRESS!
Now that’s typical – if there’s one thing I have plenty of, then it’s 1960′s style dresses. Alas, I’m not in London, so you’ve got one person less standing in your way. Or take pictures of you while you’re not looking and then posting them on the internet.
Just in case you’re in doubt what 1960′s clothes looked like:
If you want to go for “cool” rather than “colourful to the point of ouch”, I’d suggest the following look, though:
There’s also an official MySpace page for “The Boat That Rocked” – quizzes, trailers, behind-the-scenes videos, playlist, news, competitions and lots of other things.
TAKE ME TO THE SOFT, WHITE UNDERBELLY OF THE INTERNET MYSPACE!
Have a lot of fun, lucky winners of premiere tickets! And everybody else watching the movie as well!
Been to the premiere? Or seen the movie some other day? Let us know what you thought of it – no matter if you loved “The Boat That Rocked” or hated it. Leave a message, send a mail, release a pigeon. Messages in a bottle are also welcome.

If a trailer is considered too rude to be up on a decent site, you can bet your arse backside it will be up on mine.
Nick Frost, I herewith forgive you the sock-incident.
We’re on the same sheet here.
Or boat.
Whatever.
And just to get into the mood for “The Boat That Rocked”:
“Back by popular demand, the award-winning Pirate BBC Essex returns to the airwaves this Easter (10-13 April) for a four-day broadcast.”
“The vessel’s bridge will be converted into a radio studio from where Pirate BBC Essex will broadcast on 729, 765 and 1530 MW and on bbc.co.uk/essex from 7am on Good Friday (10 April).”
“Thousands of sixties pirate radio fans will be able to get within a few feet of the fun and action.”
“The vessel that hosts the four-day broadcast is a star in its own right as it is featured in the new film The Boat That Rocked, written and directed by Richard Curtis and starring Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans and Kenneth Branagh.”

Just when I was about to get suspicious that they might have cut him out of the movie… a new trailer comes along, which doesn’t only bring us the gorgeous Talulah Riley and Nick Frost (there’s not enough bleach in the world to make me unsee those socks. I love you Nick, really, but those socks are the type of stuff inspiring Stephen King…),
but also
finally some scenes with Jack Davenport. About friggin’ time!
He looks like Agent Smith in “The Matrix”, which is A Very Good Thing. Hugo Weaving was the only reason why I suffered through “Matrix 2: The Fail” and “Matrix 3: The Failship”.

Kenneth Branagh and Jack Davenport in “The Boat That Rocks”.
Then there’s Rhys Ifans, of course. Yesss…
What can I say? “CHEERS!”
Oh, and don’t forget to keep an eye on the official “The Boat That Rocks” website:
