According to IMDB, it is rumored that Jack Davenport is going to be in the next Pirates of the Caribbean installment, Dead Men Tell No Tales. Check it out for yourself here.

Also, according to Mr. Davenport’s CV posted on his agent’s site HERE, he’s going to be playing a character named Lancelot in the upcoming movie The Secret Service. This seems to be less of a rumor than the POTC news, but until it’s officially announced, we’ll still call it a rumor.

We’ll keep you posted as this news is confirmed (or not!).

We’ll get to Jack Davenport’s whereabouts in a minute, but let me introduce a friend of mine first:

Frank the Poodle!

As you can tell, Frank’s a bad role model. Frank doesn’t care, though. Nor do I. So please, no emails about the dangers of smoking again, cheers. He’s not particularly interested in Jack Davenport (ok, let’s be honest, he had no idea who Jack Davenport is), supports the worst football team on this planet and there’s not one TV show we both like. But still, Frank’s a great mate and offered to jump in to help me out with “Good Boy, Sparky!”, and here’s why:

The recent lack of updates was partially due to Jack Davenport working on whatever he’s working that I don’t know of (and therefore can’t tell you anything about – does that make any sense?) and partially because I’ve been and still am a bit under the weather. Unfortunately, that won’t change any time soon, but I didn’t want to give up the website. I’m very happy that Frank offered to maintain the website for me; he’ll start updating the galleries next week. I’ll still be around though, no worries.

Cheers, Frank! Woof!

And now for the all-important question:

Well, there was the becoming-a-parent-bit. Kids keep one busy. And awake. And you have no idea how much cleaning-work is involved after feeding children pea soup or puréed spinach. So it’s  not unreasonable to assume he’s spent more time with the family.

There is no information about the movie project in France that Jack mentioned a while ago. Internet rumours claim that he’s actually been hidden away on the set of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” instead and will have a cameo as a zombie-Norrington (Zombington?)  in the movie. I won’t deny that miracles can happen – after all, Damian O’Hare as Lt. Gillette will return as well (huzzah!) – but so far, there’s not one person, picture or source out there to confirm that anything about that rumour is true.

DEATH KNIGHT LOVE STORY is still in the works.

According to some users of Spotify, Jack Davenport is doing a voice-over for Alfa Romeo. That’s very nice, but I’ll stick to public transport.

If you’d like to enjoy Jack’s voice without added that special car-salesman-touch, I recommend you’ll listen to his latest audio book:

SUM: Tales from the Afterlife
by David Eagleman
(various episodes)

Or, if you prefer radio: BBC4 will repeat

by Haruki Murakami
read by Jack Davenport

tomorrow, 0.30am.

As for new releases:

FLASH FORWARD is now available on DVD!

And if you live in the UK, here’s some excellent news for you:

Starting on 7th September, 10.35pm, ITV1 will show all episodes of the series. Better late than never, eh?

What else… oh, yes. Jack Davenport and Michelle Gomez were guests at the wedding of Anna Paquin (whom I like a lot) and Steven Moyer (he worked with Jack in “Ultraviolet”). As far as I know, nobody was bitten. All the best to the newlyweds!

And last but not least – and not completely unrelated to weddings! – I have news from Ziko, the HeroRat sponsored by “Good Boy, Sparky!”:

“First, Mrs. Ziko and I are happy to announce the safe arrival of three new babies!  Can you imagine?! Triplets! (Truth be told, that’s pretty normal for us Giant African Pouched Rats, but its totally new to me!) The three of them are healthy and active little buggers always squirming around and begging for more milk!  Of course, we have already picked out their future professions: HeroRATs!”

Mrs. Ziko is a very busy new mum!

Three little HeroRattlings!

If you’d like to support the important work of HeroRats and/or learn more about the way they help clearing landmines and detecting contaminated water, please click on the “HeroRats” button in the navigation bar. Cheers!

… what’s new news then?

The random first:

FTP Prods submitted a special application for a film permit [for FlashForward] at 2828 Butler Ave., for filming scheduled to begin Feb. 16 and end Feb. 18.

City Councilman Alfredo Flores jokingly asked if there would be any autographed head shots provided for council members of some of the cast members. “I’m just kidding,” he said.

No joke is the recent news from the “FlashForward” front, though.

As if the hiatus for “Flash Forward” and the date-juggling over at ABC weren’t bad enough (at the moment, the series is supposed to continue on 18 March, 2010), we now have to learn that

though he’s quick to assure that

“I’m proud of the show and excited about the relaunch.  It’s in great hands.”

Ah. Well, the same was said about the US version of “Coupling”, and we all know how that turned out. I really want to believe in the success of FlashForward, despite this chaos. I also want to believe in unicorns.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Jack Davenport and everybody else involved with the show; maybe we’ll witness a miracle and “FlashForward” can recover. But so far, we have artificial hype and many online gizmos by the makers, yet not a strong, solid fanbase. There simply aren’t enough fans who really care. That sort of emotional investment into a show, vitally important for its success, can’t be bought. Why, yes, I’m disappointed.

On a more positive note,

And now for something completely different – rumours and gossip!

Anybody capable of starting a computer can edit entries. Information, be it on a person’s professional or private life, is only reliable when it comes from a reliable source. And as far as private information goes, it’s none of our business, anyway. Caveat lector!

Yes, there’s a “Jack Davenport” on Facebook. (Or two. Maybe three.) The person running that facebook is clearly stating in her profile that she is not the “real” Jack Davenport, and that it’s a fan project. She’s not pretending to be somebody she’s not. Looks like innocent fun to me.

As you can tell from my usage of third person, it’s not me who is running the facebook in question, even if there’s a link to “Good Boy, Sparky”. I also don’t know who’s running it. Facebook is to me what garlic is to a vampire. Also, I’m a dog and am not allowed to have an account. So if you’re upset because you don’t like this fan project, don’t clutch your pearls in my mailbox. Any further complaints regarding this matter will be deleted and your address will be marked as spam.

The new episodes of “Flash Forward” have been pushed back even further – now to start on 18 March, 2010. Maybe it took them longer to catch the flying monkeys who, as we all know, are the true villains.

And if we may believe rumours of a crucial scene with a surprise guest star, the story might not go the way we thought it would. I actually have a theory:

is over, and our mailbox was flooded with mails from all over the planet, giving the correct answer:

In the “Pirates of the Caribbean” trilogy, Jack Davenport played James Norrington.

The winner was drawn this morning, and it is

~~°~~ JEMMA ~~°~~

The DVDs of “That Deadwood Feeling” and “A Christmas Story” as well as a lovely scented candle from L’Occitane and delicious chocolate are on their way to Canada.

Thanks a lot to everybody who participated in the contest, and also thanks for the many lovely comments about Jack and Flash Forward!

Many asked if Jack would be in the next “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie. Unfortunately, I don’t know more than you, folks. Sorry!

Jack Davenport’s presence would be about the only thing which might tempt me into buying a ticket for “PotC: On Stranger Tides”. And only if James Norrington was alive, shaved, washed, wearing the uniform of the Royal Navy and in the movie for more than two minutes. Nyah!

Various sources on the internet, among them Playbill, have informed that Helen Fielding’s “Bridget Jones’s Diary is being adapted as a stage musical.

According to a report in London’s Daily Mail, Fielding has been working on the book for the musical for several months, though no director, composer or cast are yet attached. But at a private reading of the work-in-progress of the book, held recently in London, it is reported that Jack Davenport played the Grant role of Daniel Cleaver, and Victoria Wood and Hary Enfield were also featured in a variety of roles.

While I’d love to see an adaption of BJD that does not include Renée Zellweger features Jack Davenport (I think he’d do a fantastic job in the role of Daniel Cleaver), there are two bits about this information which take down the excitement a peg or two:

  1. The quoted source is the Daily Fail. Which is a failpaper on failprint written by failporters.
  2. “Stage Musical”. Which probably means that singing is involved.

    Jack Davenport.

    *scratches head*

Oh well. I’m watching the Eurovision Song Contest right now, there are people who’d do worse…

Still, it would be hilarious and awesome, and I’d be first in line for tickets, so let’s all keep an eye on this…

News can be found in the most obscure sources – for example in the “Car Clinic” column over at The Sunday Times.

“(…) I bought it over the phone from a film director in Ealing who had used it as a prop in a film starring Dexter Fletcher, David Soul and Jack Davenport. I drove it for a few months, couldn’t afford its thirst and sold it for 300% profit.

Until this letter I hadn’t given it or the film a second thought. I’ve discovered it was called Three Men in a Restaurant and was about three no-hopers trying to make a film. It has since had its name changed to That Deadwood Feeling and is due to hit cinemas next year, complete with Cadillac. (…)”

Don’t ask me about cars, I don’t even own a driving license. And if I had one, I’d drive a 1948s Citroën deux-chevaux (commonly known as “The Duck”) – a green one, of course – or a VW Beetle. Anyway, of course this made me scratch my head for various reasons:

Looks like a canard, doesn’t it? But wait…

Amazon UK takes preorders for the “That Deadwood Feeling” DVD, to be released on 16 March, 2009!

Houston, we’re having a “quoi?!” moment.

What’s the secret behind “Deadwood”?
Did the Cadillac audition for the job?
And if “Deadwood” should really hit the cinemas – would the cinemas hit back?

So many questions, so little time…
