We’ll get to Jack Davenport’s whereabouts in a minute, but let me introduce a friend of mine first:

Frank the Poodle!

As you can tell, Frank’s a bad role model. Frank doesn’t care, though. Nor do I. So please, no emails about the dangers of smoking again, cheers. He’s not particularly interested in Jack Davenport (ok, let’s be honest, he had no idea who Jack Davenport is), supports the worst football team on this planet and there’s not one TV show we both like. But still, Frank’s a great mate and offered to jump in to help me out with “Good Boy, Sparky!”, and here’s why:

The recent lack of updates was partially due to Jack Davenport working on whatever he’s working that I don’t know of (and therefore can’t tell you anything about – does that make any sense?) and partially because I’ve been and still am a bit under the weather. Unfortunately, that won’t change any time soon, but I didn’t want to give up the website. I’m very happy that Frank offered to maintain the website for me; he’ll start updating the galleries next week. I’ll still be around though, no worries.

Cheers, Frank! Woof!

And now for the all-important question:

“WHAT’S JACK DAVENPORT BEEN UP TO, LATELY?”

Well, there was the becoming-a-parent-bit. Kids keep one busy. And awake. And you have no idea how much cleaning-work is involved after feeding children pea soup or puréed spinach. So it’s  not unreasonable to assume he’s spent more time with the family.

There is no information about the movie project in France that Jack mentioned a while ago. Internet rumours claim that he’s actually been hidden away on the set of “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” instead and will have a cameo as a zombie-Norrington (Zombington?)  in the movie. I won’t deny that miracles can happen – after all, Damian O’Hare as Lt. Gillette will return as well (huzzah!) – but so far, there’s not one person, picture or source out there to confirm that anything about that rumour is true.

DEATH KNIGHT LOVE STORY is still in the works.

According to some users of Spotify, Jack Davenport is doing a voice-over for Alfa Romeo. That’s very nice, but I’ll stick to public transport.

If you’d like to enjoy Jack’s voice without added that special car-salesman-touch, I recommend you’ll listen to his latest audio book:

SUM: Tales from the Afterlife
by David Eagleman
(various episodes)

Or, if you prefer radio: BBC4 will repeat

THE YEAR OF SPAGHETTI
by Haruki Murakami
read by Jack Davenport

tomorrow, 0.30am.

As for new releases:

FLASH FORWARD is now available on DVD!

And if you live in the UK, here’s some excellent news for you:

SWINGTOWN IS COMING TO ITV1!

Starting on 7th September, 10.35pm, ITV1 will show all episodes of the series. Better late than never, eh?

What else… oh, yes. Jack Davenport and Michelle Gomez were guests at the wedding of Anna Paquin (whom I like a lot) and Steven Moyer (he worked with Jack in “Ultraviolet”). As far as I know, nobody was bitten. All the best to the newlyweds!

And last but not least – and not completely unrelated to weddings! – I have news from Ziko, the HeroRat sponsored by “Good Boy, Sparky!”:

“First, Mrs. Ziko and I are happy to announce the safe arrival of three new babies!  Can you imagine?! Triplets! (Truth be told, that’s pretty normal for us Giant African Pouched Rats, but its totally new to me!) The three of them are healthy and active little buggers always squirming around and begging for more milk!  Of course, we have already picked out their future professions: HeroRATs!”

Mrs. Ziko is a very busy new mum!

Three little HeroRattlings!

That’s where “Swingtown” will be moving to – so if you want to see Jack Davenport et al, tune in on “Bravo”, which will air all 13 episodes from 5 October on. This does not mean a second season of “Swingtown” will be produced – yet. But it’s a good start, and maybe the show finally get some proper promotion and exposure.

Read all about it here:

BRAVO HEADS TO SWINGTOWN

Special thanks have to go to Dnique for digging this out. And a big “thank you” in general to all of you guys out there who send in scans of interviews, pictures, screencaps and news and keep this website running. We could never do this on our own. 🙂

And now for something completely different.

NEWS FROM ZIKO, OUR VERY OWN HERO RAT!

Ziko has been doing very well in his training! He’s now working in the real mine field, and passed the 3 hole (positive verses negative samples) stage with flying colours! Ziko found each of the positive targets and did
not have any false positives! His trainer Shaibu was very proud. And so are we! 🙂

Ziko says hello, by the way:

“Wish me luck! I am doing my best to become the best I can be out there finding mines and, most important of all, saving kids and innocent adults from getting hurt. But your support means a lot, thank you!

Love and whiskers,

Ziko”

There is one thing no decent website about an actor should be without:

Message board? No.
Chat room? No.
SuppahSekritMemberSection? Hell, no!

We’re talking about – a rat. Yes, a rat. But not just any rat – a HERO RAT!

We’re very happy to inform you that we will have neither a message board nor a chat room and definitely no SSMS – instead, we have adopted Ziko Herorat! He does a more important job than any of us here at “Goodboy, Sparky”: Ziko, who is still a baby, is currently trained to sniff out land mines. With his help, and the help of many other heroic rats (and those who train them), land mines can be found and destroyed. And as Ziko and his pals are featherweights, the mines can’t harm them.

A warm applause for the young man!

Here are a few words from Ziko:

Thank you very much for adopting me.

Let me introduce myself: My name is Ziko and I am an African giant pouched rat. I am no standard rat however because I save lives! I am a herorat, trained to sniff out unexploded landmines in Africa. Every 20 minutes someone is killed or injured by a landmine. Often they are children. My job is to find the mines before the kids do.

Luckily, I have two great advantages over the children. The first is my nose: I can smell explosives even when they are underground. The second is my size: I am too light to set off the mines. As a mine detector, I have other advantages too. I am cheap – I work for peanuts. I am easy to train and I don’t mind repetitive tasks. When trained, I can clear 100 square metres in 30 minutes.

You should probably know that I am a young male rat (I am still baby) and that I live in Tanzania where I’m bred especially to become a herorat. This is great because it means we can grow through my training together. My trainer Shaibu will send you regular reports of my progress toward certification.

I promise to do my best to make you proud of me. With your support, I am sure I will soon be out there finding mines and, most important of all, saving the lives and limbs of kids and innocent adults.

Thank you.

Love & Whiskers

Ziko (inky paw!)

As you can tell, Ziko and his mates are doing a very important job. And you can help them! For only EUR 5.00 a month (that would be about £ 4.00) you can adopt a Hero Rat as well. Mind you, if you can afford more than EUR 5.00, nobody will complain!

Help if you can! Spread the word!

Disclaimer: “Hero Rats” is the charity of choice of the webmaster, not of Jack Davenport. We don’t know if he likes rats. Should there ever be Hero Hamsters, we’ll promote them as well. Cheers!
