Jack Davenport has been spotted in public a lot lately.

First, there was the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Los Angeles on Jan. 6, during which Jack appeared with the rest of the Smash cast. Jack apparently didn’t say much during their Q&A session, but he sure looked pretty.

Since Smash was nominated for Best Comedy/Musical TV Series, Jack was also a part of the show’s representation who attended the 70th annual Golden Globes Awards ceremony last Sunday, Jan. 13.

The day before, he attended the BAFTA Awards Season Tea Party at The Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles.

Jack does a fine job of looking both dashing and hip on the red carpet, doesn’t he?

As the new Smash season gears up to premiere on Feb. 5, we’ll be keeping an eye out for more Jack appearances and promos, so check back soon!

Today was a big day for Jack’s latest project, Smash. New cast photos have been released (click on each shot for a bigger version with captions), including a seriously nice shot of Derek Wills by himself. Also, word on the street is that U.S. media outlets are beginning to receive screeners from NBC with season 2’s first three episodes.

Here’s hoping the show starts getting rave advance reviews!

It was a blast. It was da bomb. It was smashing. And now we have to wait for what, nine, ten months? I could have two litters of puppies in that time, fly to Mars and spend my holidays there or even get a human being on the other end of the BT helpline!

But better late than no season two at all.

Bring it on, Sparky!

In completely different news:

Jack Davenport on Anthony Minghella

Somebody told me early on in our rehearsal period for the film that my character, Peter Smith-Kingsley (who in the novel appears in only one scene), had become in Ant’s writing an amalgam of qualities that he most admired in people. I found this information frankly terrifying, but Ant put it to me slightly differently. He said that Peter was the only character in the story who was comfortable in their own skin, and it was this quality that attracted Tom Ripley.

Finally!

“Smash”, the singing and dancing Broadway drama, will start tomorrow Saturday, 10pm on Sky Atlantic!

Far too long has Europe been deprieved of Jack Davenport’s excellent dastardly-then-again-not-really choreographer Derek Wills. There are two really good videos of an interview with Jack Davenport talking about the character and his thoughts on the show. Part I is here (can’t be embedded, sorry), part II here.

“He [Derek Wills] couldn’t care less about what anyone thinks about him. I sadly do care what people think about me, I wish I cared less but I don’t and it’s quite liberating to play someone like that.”

I’m very curious how “Smash” will be received over here. The British press loves to eat their own, but at the end of the day, it’s the fans who make or break a show. Up to you now, guys!

I’m leaving you with a shot of Jack on the red carpet of the Olivier Awards. Unsurprisingly, he won the award for Best Tux of the Evening.

For those moments when “Smash” is not on the tube… (means: until season two, because NBC picked up the show. Woohoo woofwoof!)

The website is up and running again, and there shouldn’t be any more lagging. We still have no idea who was responsible for the DDoS attack, but we hope they’ll step barefoot on Legos every morning for the rest of their lives.

Have you seen “Smash” last night, by the way? Yes? Good boys. And girls.

And because today is Valentine’s birthday, here’s a picture of Jack Davenport and his ever-lovely wife, Michelle Gomez.

Time flies – the TV première of “Smash” is just around the corner!

And of course we’re curious to hear what you thought of it – loved it? Hated it? Do you like Derek Wills or would you rather throw him off a cliff? Leave a comment!
